A few years ago I was at a course in Arizona with Jack Canfield. It was a life-changing experience. Five day’s of meditating and exploring the visions we had for our life brought me great clarity.
I realised how important it was for me to help my clients create their ultimate businesses fast. Because life is too short to be stuck in a business that is not working.
As a business owner you “pay” for your business every day with your most valuable asset – your time. In fact most people spend around 60 per cent of their time in their business. And if you spend on average nine and a half hours each day, five days each week, within ten years, that’s over 20,000 hours!!!
It makes sense then that you want to create your business to give you the life that you want. And for me, there are are three important things to achieve in creating an “ultimate” business,
First of all, a business is about making money (amongst other things). You want to ensure that you have the profits that you and your family deserve, so that you can have the lifestyle you want.
The second important thing you want your business to deliver is a lifestyle that makes you (and your family) happy. Sadly, all too often I meet business owners who are burnt-out and tired. They are over-worked and under-paid. They are despondent. Some have lost the passion they had when they first started their business. They are battle-weary.
This is not NOT how it is supposed to be!
Truth is – you are buying your business every day. In fact, you are buying your business with your life! You want to make each day count and therefore you need to design the business from the beginning to give you the lifestyle you want.
And the third critical factor is your legacy.
I think that all business owners ultimately want to make a difference in the world. So it’s important to stop and ask yourself – when you are gone, what will you be remembered for? What will your business be remembered for? What difference will you have made in the lives of your clients? What difference will you have made in the lives of your
So, I invite you to take a moment today, switch off the distractions and ask yourself these three important questions:
1) Is your business giving you the profits you want?;
2) Is your business giving you the lifestyle you want? Are you spending enough time doing your hobbies? Are you spending enough time with your family and friends? Are you taking care of the important things (versus being a workaholic)?; and
3) What is the legacy of your business? How does your business make the world a better place?
Profits, lifestyle and legacy – a great formula for developing your ultimate business.
